Meetings
Our craft group meets on the 2nd and 3rd Thursday of the month at the Lighthouse located at 20 East Oak Street in Oakland. Hours are 9:30 until 11:30. If you can come for an hour that's fine too.
What we do
Four times a year, we make small favors for residents of local nursing homes and Meals on Wheels. Spring, July 4, Thanksgiving and Christmas we make almost 300 favors. We get a lot of our ideas from Pinterest. The favors are easy to make and do not require any great skill.
As we work, we get to know each other better - conversation is often lively and riddled with laughter. This work is FUN!
But WAIT! There's more (FUN)!
In addition to the favors, our Club designs and donates a tree to the annual Festival of Trees event held by the Dove Center after Thanksgiving. The tree has a different theme each year and we try to make most of the ornaments for the tree. To do that, we have a party early in November to gather and make the ornaments. The tree is assembled and set up the day before Thanksgiving. Trees are auctioned off at the Festival and the proceeds help the Dove Center carry on their important work helping victims of domestic violence
