The Antiques and Artisans market is the biggest fundraiser of the year held in October. Volunteers help to organize, recruit vendors and sponsors, and most importantly, volunteer during the event.
At the market the Civic Club hosts a Café. Many volunteers are needed to cook food for the café and serve during the event.
As a key fundraising effort for the Civic Club, the Antique & Artisans Market Café is an extremely successful fundraiser.
Members are responsible for cooking the delicious food served at the café in accordance with health preparation guidelines in a certified kitchen.
Many volunteers are needed to support the Café for cooking the food and over the course of the weekend to serve food and take payments.
GAME TIME IS AN AFTERNOON OF FUN AND GAMES FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
Our newest fundraiser, GameTime is held on a March or April afternoon and is an opportunity to engage with the community over a wide variety of Board and card games. Volunteers are needed to lead or teach games and sell entry fee tickets at the door, or to organize door prizes.
Held each April, our Flea Market is a little bit of everything. Help us organize and plan, find vendors, and promote the event.
All funds collected will be used to support the community.
This event is a dual purpose event to honor the Civic Club Volunteers with yummy teas and treats, but also as a fundraiser for the Civic Club.
The event includes a 4-course tea in the November timeframe to include soup, small sandwiches, scones and more. There is a silent auciton as part of the event with many different items to bid on from local merchants. This is a great opportunity to get a start on your holiday shopping.
The Treasure Chest is a thrift shop that ministers exclusively to the clients of The Lighthouse. The shop allows clients to shop in a calm and supportive environment and offers a broad variety of personal items, jewelry, basic home needs and decorative items.
Prices are kept very reasonable. Items are donated by Civic Club members or other staff.
The Fiber Group knit and crochet small items for local community organizations that need things like baby blankets, soap holders, scarves, hats and more. The group also creates a beautiful quilt for the Antiques and Artisans market raffle to collect funds for the Civic Club.
Four times a year, the club makes small favors to give to residents of local nursing homes and Meals on Wheels.
We make over 1,200 favors during the year!
The favors are easy to make and do not require any great skill.
Please join the fun!
As part of the Civic Club's service to keep Garrett County beautiful, the club has adopted a section of highway in Garrett County. This small but mighty team goes out 3 times a year to clean up debris from the highway to keep our community beautiful.
At every Civic Club luncheon, items are collected to provide to the Veteran's home. A list of needed items is available to review. A fellow member who was former military delivers the items to the Veteran's home.
Warm the Children is a national initiative that benefits our local community. We work with Garrett County schools, the Department of Social Services and the local newspaper to purchase warm clothing for families in need.
Members notify selected families and take them shopping at our local Walmart.
