Each year an outstanding Club woman is named Woman of the Year. She is chosen by the three previous WOTY based on her contributions to the club and community. Our selection for the 2024 Woman of the Year is Jeannie Campbell. Jeannie has been a member of the Civic Club since 2022 and has made a profound contribution to our community in the following ways.
TEAM Oriented: Jeannie provides support to so many areas in the Civic Club as a team participant and leader.
Distinctions: Civic Club Volunteer of the Year 2023. Master Naturalist and 2024 Bylaws Committee Chair. Raffle sales coordinator.
Specific accomplishments: Led the Committee to enhance Civic Club Bylaws. Calculated total Profit over Loss, including hours of volunteer time of the Autumn Glory events.
Humanitarianism: Jeannie has served as a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity. In addition, as a 22-year Navy veteran, she is passionate about Veterans, Behavioral Health rights and equality opportunities. She influenced Arlington National Cemetery to create a burial area for women.
Charitable: Selfless donation of her time for the Civic Club and other community non-profits.
Educational: Jeannie is "others oriented" and is a thought-leader. She enjoys sharing experiences, ideas and topics, hobbies, and project ideas to foster club growth.
Environmental: - Mastering the environment as a Master Naturalist, Jeannie has a profound appreciation of honeybees for environmental sustainability and conservation of resources.
Jeannie has proven to enrich the lives of Club members with volunteerism, exemplifying herself as a model leader, demonstrating being a team member, engaging others to participate, showing and demonstrating respect for others.
Each year an outstanding Club woman is named Volunteer of the Year. This year 2 women were chosen based on the number of hours they spent devoting time to club activities. Board members and previous recipients are not eligible for this award.
Both Joan and Mary Alice logged 114 volunteer hours in 2024. Their support to the community and to the Civic Club were instrumental in helping so many activities in the Garret County community.
