We meet to knit and crochet small items for local community organizations that need things like baby blankets, soap holders, scarves, hats and more. Want to learn how to knit or crochet? Someone can help you! This is not 'work'...it's a great way to get to know other members and take time for yourself while taking care of others. Meetings are once a month- first Thursday from 2 to 4 pm. Spring, summer and fall we meet at Jean Skinners house. Winter we meet at Ace's Run on Garrett Highway. This is our second year making a quilt for our Winner's Choice raffle held during the Antique and Makers Market. Over the winter months, members get together and choose the pattern and fabrics for a quilt. We choose fabrics from our 'stash', make the blocks at home, then get together to sew the blocks into a beautiful quilt. The 2023 quilt is a Chandelier pattern and is full/queen size.
Raffle tickets are sold throughout the summer and during the Antique & Makers Market. Winning tickets will be drawn on October 14 at 4:30 pm. Winners will be notified by phone.
As part of our International outreach program, over the winter members make dignity pads for women in countries that lack access to proper feminine hygiene products. In many places, women are shunned and not allowed to attend school during their monthly cycles. The pads are washable and reusable and allow women to go about their daily business. Education is provided along with the pads. In 2023 we mailed almost 200 pads to Little Dresses for Africa to distribute on their mission.
