Suzanne Harle - Co-President
Suzanne retired from Information Technology in Healthcare 2010. She knew before retirement she wanted to volunteer. A friend brought her to Civic Club Luncheon. In 2011 the member writing the Newsletter was moving to Florida, Suzanne jumped at the job. In 2012 she was asked to be 1st Vice President until 2016. In 2017 she became Publicity Chair, still publishing the newsletter and continued on the Board. She left the Board at end of 2021 and returned in 2024 as Co-President.
Jean Tumbarello - Co-President
Jean joined the Civic Club in 2012 after she moved to Garrett County from 'downstate' Maryland. She became 2nd VP in 2014 and since then has served as President, Treasurer and Co-President. She is chair of the Antiques & Artisans Market and coordinates the Spring 'Anything Goes' Flea Market. Jean is also active in the craft group and helps make the annual raffle quilt. Jean is a retired nurse and enjoys Garrett County life with husband Mike and their cat Lucy.
Susan Wolffe- Co-First VP (programming)
Sue started vacationing with my family in Garrett County as a child, enjoying my parents cottage on Deep Creek Lake. Tired of the city/suburban life near Washington, DC, she moved here full time in 2021. Sue is the President of Deep Creek Sailing School which runs for eight weeks in the summer. She got involved in the Civic Club based on recommendations from friends and by stopping by the table at the Farmer's Market in Oakland.
BJ Gallagher- Co-First VP (Yearbook)
BJ has been a member since 2009. She has been First Vice President for four non-consecutive terms, was chair of the 100 year celebration committee of the Civic Club of Oakland in 2012-13, currently chairs the Fiber Group, the Warm the Children note writing campaign, and is the club's Historian. BJ is a Speech/Language Pathologist currently delivering tele-health services in MD, NH, NV, and NM.
Louise Carmichael - 2nd VP
Louise joined the club in 2021. Having a place in Garrett County since 1985 she decided it was time to move here permanently from the South Hills of Pittsburgh in 2021. She was an elementary school teacher and then a bookkeeper/office manager for her husband Jim’s business. As soon as she joined CC, she got involved with the Antiques & Artisans Market Café, Craft, Conservation and Book Club groups. Currently, Louise has also joined the Fiber Group, She helps where needed selling raffle tickets and helping with the Anything Goes Market.
Colleen Painter - Corresponding Secretary
Colleen joined Civic Club in Spring 2023. She and her husband Tim relocated to McHenry from Ashburn, Virginia. Colleen joined the Crafty Ladies making tray favors for nursing home residents, worked in the kitchen of the Antiques and Artisans Market, assisted as a shopper for Warm The Children, enjoyed ‘ditch diving’ and picking up trash for Civic Club’s Adopt A Highway program. This summer she participated on the committee to review and revise the Club’s Bylaws and supported the startup of the new Hospitality Committee. Colleen joined the Board as Corresponding Secretary in Spring 2024.
Jeannie Campbell- Recording Secretary
Jeannie joined the Club in 2022 and has been active in many of the Club’s fundraising activities including the Antiques & Artisans Market and raffle sales, Game Time, and Anything Goes and enjoys helping to promote the Club and its service activities. Jeannie is currently serving as Recording Secretary of the Board and was recognized as the Civic Club’s Volunteer of the Year in 2023. Jeannie retired from working at the national level in the mental health and substance use field and is also a 22-year Navy veteran.
Linda Luedeke - Treasurer
Linda and her husband have owned a vacation townhome here since 2006 and when she retired from an insurance career in Potomac, MD. In 2013, they moved to Garrett County full-time, and love it here even when it snows. She heard about the Civic Club from a friend and several fellow Mah Jong players. When they told her about the support they provide to local charitable organizationsm she was excited to join these wonderful volunteers.
Pat Reichelt- Membership
Pat has been a Civic Club member since 2022, after retiring here from Baltimore with her husband Klaus. They have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren. She is currently serving as the Membership Chair and has participated in the Antiques & Artisans Market & Café, the book club, nominations committee, fundraising committee and the craft group. Pat also leads the class for Strength Training for Seniors at the CARC, volunteers for GLAF, and enjoys spirited weekly games of Mah Jongg.
